Yvonne Kelly & Sharma Queiser
Yvonne works as a Community and Partnership Developer with the Inclusive School and Community Services Department of the York Region District School Board. Yvonne has over 25 years of experience in community development, social justice, advocacy and equity work, largely in school-based settings. She is a Co-Chair of the Social Planning Council of York Region and through this work, participates with a number of organizations and grassroots coalitions advocating for adequate income, equity and fairness for all. Currently, Yvonne is a member of the Steering Committee of the Knowledge Network for Student Well-Being’s (KNSWB) Cross Community of Practice on Equity and Inclusion for low-income learners and their families.
Sharma is a Researcher and Policy Analyst at Social Planning Toronto where she conducts community-based, action-oriented research and supports community engagement. Current projects include equity in education, access to recreation, community use of public spaces, and child and youth social development. With a BSW from Ryerson University and an MSW from U of T, Sharma is passionate about using research to mobilize communities for positive social change. Sharma is also the Author of Social Planning Toronto’s Report: Missing Opportunities: How Budget Policies Continue to Leave Behind Low-Income Students (2017)
