Spoken Word Artist

Noor is a spoken word poet, educator and social justice advocate. Born in Montreal with roots in Southern Lebanon, she completed her undergrad at Concordia University in Creative Writing with a concentration in poetry, and her Masters in Education at the University of Ottawa with a concentration in Societies, Cultures and Languages. The topics of her poetry range from compassion and community-directed approaches, to alienation, existentialism and resistance. Her research interests involve how spoken word poetry can be a vehicle to mobilize, support and empower marginalized and disenfranchised youth voices to name and resist their own oppression(s).

Noor is currently the Network Coordinator for the Réseau de Savoir sur l’Équité | Equity Knowledge Network (RSEKN), hosted by the Faculty of Education and Centre for Research on Educational and Community Services (CRECS) at the University of Ottawa.
